Nouvelles frontières d'analyse et de réponses aux crises alimentaires en Afrique de l'Ouest

Abstract : The issue of crisis is a central element of debate and a strategic challenge for all stakeholders in West Africa. Food and nutrition crises have there a recurrence, intensity and high variability constituting renewed challenges. Their definition, delimitation and management also provide an old and structured intervention professional field. Different conceptual and contextual approaches can be mobilized to account for the diversity and complexity of food and nutrition crises. Some, more descriptive, list their causes and manifestations, while others insist on their built character, their dynamic linked to phenomena interactions. All different institutional actors involved, both at national and international levels, have so far mostly favored the gradual improvement of expert systems providing technical short-term responses. In parallel, this has led to a harmonization of these frameworks of thoughts, thus detrimental to the consideration of the diversity of questions and the integration of non-institutional actors. Such are the boundaries and limits that this article aims to question to remind the political dimension of the management of food crises (and their eventual resolution).
