Toponymie des îlots du Mouillage (atoll des Chesterfield, Parc naturel de la mer de Corail)

Abstract : The Anchorage Islets, located along the eastern barrier of the southern part of the Chesterfield-Bampton atoll, are a major site for the reproduction of seabirds and green turtles in the western tropical Pacific, including two threatened species. The government of New Caledonia has designated as so-called integral reserves an "îlot du Nord-Est" and an "îlot du Mouillage no. 1". However, these two islets cannot be clearly identified from the sole official decree. Moreover, different names have been used in the previous literature. Here, the two islets are identified, the synonymies for all Anchorage islets are established, and a stabilization of the toponymy is proposed.
