Genre, engagement et intersectionnalité : débats et expériences croisées

Abstract : Abstract: The aims and forms of the commitments of Muslim women are many and varied. For some religion is an essential point of reference, others maintain their distance. However, central to discussions on Islam or gender, is the fact that both are confronted with somewhat paradoxical representations or even ascriptions to their identity. Their place and the modalities of their presence in public space are constantly being discussed and images circulate. This apparent visibility is often based on standardised representations and conceals a disappearance: the variety of actual militant practices, the meaning of and the reasons for their actions, the difficulties encountered and the strategies employed to get round these, remain ill-known. On the basis of these experiences, the modalities and the issues at stake in an intersectional context are discussed here.
